ReflectionTo better support my colleagues and broaden my professional knowledge and skills I have attended many workshops on a variety of topics. Specifically, over the past three years I have attended workshops at Showcase schools provided by the Department of Education. There are many topics that Showcase schools present about, however, I chose to attende those regarding S.T.E.A.M, computer science, transdisciplinary, and project based learning. I have also become a Level 1 Google Certified educator. This certification requires educators to have a certain level of familiarity with Google tools. Although we are not a GAFE school, I encourage my students as well as my colleagues to to employ the tools. I have also presented at NYIT's Speed Tech Conference and hope to continue doing so in the coming years. The opportunity to present education based digital tools to numerous colleagues helps me network and acquire other tools to improvce my professional practice.

ReflectionThis mind map has evolved over the past three years to include what I use or should employ when reflecting on my professional practice. Specifically this is for my work with colleagues in terms of professional development. First and foremost it is important that I have administrative support in what I focus my workshops on which must be focused on the advancement of learning for students and advancing teacher practice. Nevertheless, the topics must be generated by the needs of my colleagues and their classrooms. All of this involves the methods of communication. The two forms of communication I utilize are Google Forms and the minutes recorded at each workshop. Google Forms aids in generating topics of interest to create workshops on as well as gathering feedback. The minutes serve as a means of self evaluation as to any questions I was not able to address, areas to improve, and a reference for administration as well as other colleagues unable to attend. Of course when preparing for a workshop the factors I seek to include are 21st century connections which include collaboration, creativity, communication, hands on, and problem based. This supports the learning and allows teachers to experience the student aspect.
